Tai Chi is a chinese martial art with over 900 years of history. It focuses on the internal aspects of Kung Fu and is based on Shaolin Kung Fu, which has over 1500 years of history. Tai Chi, being an internal martial art, uses a strong stance and proper body mechanics to use an opponents energy against them.
Tranquil Pool Martial Arts specializes in teaching students how to align their bodies for proper balance and leverage through Tai Chi. We teach using theoretical combat examples as a reference point, so that the purpose of each move assists in the understanding of how to preform it.
Though the movements of Tai Chi are preformed slow in practice, they are practical fighting techniques when preformed at full speed. The slow movements of the form, during practice, help train precision and strength for all speeds.
We train in Grants Pass, both at the YMCA in the pool, 6:00 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and at the All Sports Park near the foot bridge, 12:00 noon on Sundays.
